Week beginning 9.5.2016

This week in English we have been on an adventure to Australia. We read the story 'The Diary of a Wombat' and then jetted off to explore some of the wonders of Australia. We jumped like kangaroos, walked on the beach and cooked on the BBQ. We have talked about verbs and been looking at 'ed' endings. In maths we have been learning about positional and directional language. For positional language we have been using clockwise, anti-clockwise, quarter, half, three quarter and whole turns, forwards, backwards, up, down, left and right. For directional language we have been using in, on, outside, inside, left, right, next to, beside, under, behind, above and below. In topic work we will be starting our last D&T project which will be designing and making a garden chair. Please continue to practise the phonics homework we will be sending home weekly. The phonics tests begin straight after half term. Our Year One reading event is Thursday 26th May at 9am. Please wear suitable shoes!
