Week beginning 13th November

Welcome to the year one blog!

This week in maths we have been thinking about time. We have talked about...
  • the past, present and future
  • years
  • months
  • days
  • the sequence of our day

The children all worked really hard writing  at writing sentences to tell us about things that they do in the morning, afternoon and evening.

As part of your home learning you could have a go at singing our days of the week song...

You could also use language relating to time to talk about the things you do each week. Here are some ideas...
What did we do yesterday?
What day was it yesterday?
What would you like for tea tomorrow?

In English we have continued to look at the story of The Gingerbread Man.  The children have been sequencing the story and using adjectives to make their writing more interesting. For example...The orange fox ate the yummy Gingerbread man!
In handwriting this half term we are learning how to form capital letters correctly and teaching the children that we use capital letters for...
  • the start of every sentence
  • proper nouns (names of people and places)

Each child will have brought home their school photo- please return these to school ASAP if you wish to place an order.

The children are really keen to show us work they have completed in their home learning books. Please remember that Big Talk does not need to be stuck in here and the book is to allow the children to have a go at writing, spellings or any math work they choose to do at home.
