11th June 2018

This week in maths we have been recapping on 3D shape and money. We have been recapping the names of common 3D shapes such as cube, cuboid, sphere, cylinder and square based pyramid. We have thought about everyday objects and which shape they are like and also talked about the properties of the 3D shapes- for example a cube has 6 faces, each face is the shape of a square. As part of your home learning you could look at objects around the home and whilst out and about and talk about which 3D shape they are. For example- a post box is a cylinder; a book is a cuboid. We would also like you to encourage your children to play with money. They could set up a toy shop, make rubbings with coins or play the ICT game https://www.topmarks.co.uk/money/toy-shop-money

In English this week we have been recapping the animal groups and writing facts about each of them. Can your children share any facts with you about mammals, birds, fish or reptiles?

This week we were really lucky to have Bryony from Slanted Dance come in and complete a Dance Workshop with all of the children. We will be really busy this half term learning a special dance. Our PE time is usually Wednesday afternoons but please make sure children have a PE kit in school at all times (including outdoor shoes) as this does sometimes change.

Please return all forms and slips for the Africa Alive ASAP. More information will follow.
