week beginning 11th April

This week we have revisited poetry and the children have been learning about the nonsense poem the Ning, Nang, Nong. We have explore rhyming pairs and have made our own changes to add even more nonsense to the poem! As the week progresses the children will be creating their own nonsense poems using everyday objects to create the rhyming string. In maths we have introduced Charlie Crocodile, who likes to eat numbers. The children have used this to help them identify the greatest number in a pair and to begin use the mathematical symbols < and > as well as =. This has also been a good opportunity for them to concentrate on their counting and number skills as we head into the final term of year one. This half term our topic is Our Garden and the children will be planting seeds to look after and observe over the next 6 weeks. Our PE days this term are Monday and Thursday, so please make sure your child has a full PE kit in school as well as hair bands and tape for ears if needed.
