9th July 2018

This week the children are singing their hearts out in the end of year summer concerts. We hope you enjoy the concert and appreciate how hard the children have worked to learn the songs on top of all of the others things they have been doing!

After the concerts we are continuing with our topic work for Carnival of the Animals. We will be....
  • making clay animals
  • designing and decorating animal biscuits
  • writing instructions on how we decorated our biscuit
We have also been busy writing out favourite memories of year one and continuing to learn a special dance for sports day.

SPORTS WEEK 2018

As you will know from the newsletter, Sports Week will run from Monday 16th to Friday 20th July.  Each day there will be different sports activity for each class, including workshops.  To make it easier, please send your child to school in their P.E kit (including P.E shoes) every day. Please also send them with a named bottle of water.

In celebration of how far the England football team have come in the World Cup if children wish to wear an England football kit or colours this Friday 13th  July instead of uniform then they may.

On Sports Day (Friday 20th) we would like the children to dress in their team colours. If possible please can…

  • Snowdon wear a green t-shirt
  • Ben Nevis wear a blue t-shirt
  • Scarfell Pike wear a red t-shirt

After sports day we will be having our annual family picnic at school so please remember to bring a picnic along to enjoy afterwards.

If the great British weather lets us down we cannot do the races if it is raining or if it has rained early that morning as the field will be too wet.  We will put the flipchart out to let you know if that happens, as well as letting you know by text message and Facebook.

Please may we also remind you that you are welcome to take photographs of your children during sports day but please do not share them on social media if they contain other children.

After this Friday (13th July) the children will no longer need to bring their book bags into school. We will keep them at school at hand them out again when the children come back in September. We will be taking in all reading and sharing books so please bring in any that you may have at home. We would love for all children to take part in this years Summer Reading Challenge. The last day of term is Tuesday 24th July.

We hope you all have a wonderful summer. We have had a wonderful year and the children have worked extremely hard.
