Week commencing 25th January 2016

This week we have introduced the traditional tale The Frog Prince. The children have been retelling and sequencing the story and we have been asking the Frog questions. We have investigated what makes a good question and how to write a ? correctly. The children will be writing their questions for the frog before they report the story as a news presenter. In maths we have been learning how to use the number line to help solve an addition or subtraction calculation. The focus has been on applying the strategy successfully in order to prove the answer rather than just knowing the answer. In topic we are continuing our display of Church Street and will be looking at different types of buildings around the world next week. Just a reminder that the next Year One reading event is next Friday - 5th February 9:30-10:15 in the hall - we hope to see you there.
