Week ending 23rd October

Last week the children finished their work on Little Red Riding Hood by thinking about how each of the characters felt at the end of the story and why. They wrote independently about this for their half term assessment. In maths we were halving and quartering shapes, with a focus on each part being of equal size. In topic we talked about food that keeps us healthy and used this to learn about the artist Guiseppe Arcimboldo. The children all made self-portraits using pictures of fruit and vegetables, which will become a new display in the classroom. This week we have been finishing the half term with International Week and the whole school have been learning about Australia. The children have been learning about the history of Anzac biscuits and baked some to take home; we have read traditional tales from Australia and thought about what makes us happy (just like Karen the Koala in 'The Koala Who Learnt To Hug'); and they have been 'tour' of Australia, learning facts about the main features of the country.
