What do you need for a poorly piggy?

Oink-ment! 😁

This week in English our text has been The Three Little Pigs. We have read different versions and compared them. The children have enjoyed joining in with the story. (They are wonderful Big Bad Wolves!) The children have thought about the main events and how to order these.

In Maths we are exploring how to add and take-away. We learnt how to use a number line to count on and back. We are learning how to solve missing number problems.

Wk 14th January

This week in English we have had a little visitor... it was an elf! We read the story of The Elves and the Shoemaker. The children talked about the new language and vocabulary including the time words such as first, later, dawn, dusk, finally etc.

Today we got two tiny letters. Mrs Prophet's class got a tiny letter from Eric the Elf and Mrs B's class got a tiny letter from Elsie the Elf. We have begun to write letters back to them suggesting what adventure they could have next.

We read Mrs B's very old book of The Elves and the Shoemaker story. We liked the little hats they had on!

Some children have begun to design their own shoes and label these.

In maths we have been looking at Dienes blocks (tens and ones!) and ten frames. These resources are great for the children to handle and use to explore different mathematical concepts.

The children have been learning about staying safe online all year. This week we shared a book about not giving out your password to others. The children have been busy designing posters to show Mrs Dewing about our learning. We wonder if she might have a favourite one... !

We hope you are able to join us for one of our internet safety sessions.
There are two sessions and you are welcome to attend either-

Tuesday 15th January 7 pm at Garrick Green Infant School
Thursday 24th January 9 am at Lodge Lane Infant School

If you need another copy of the letter, please ask.

In English we have been learning about the story of Hansel and Gretel. The children worked in groups to make and follow trails outside. We had such good fun and there was lots of use of language to solve problems and negotiate.

The children have designed and labelled their own gingerbread houses.
