This week in English we have been learning all about rhyming words. We have listened to different nursery rhymes, the nonsense poem The Ning Nang Nong by Spike Milligan and also created our own rhyming nonsense poems.
In maths we met Charlie Crocodile who likes to eat big numbers! We looked at less than < and more than > to compare numbers. We have also recapped on 3D shapes.
In PE this half term we are doing dance. We read the story Handa's Surprise and listened to music thinking about how the different animals move.
Please remember to regularly practise reading and writing tricky words with your children. These can be written into the yellow homework books.
Our Year One Maths Café is Wednesday 10th May at 9am in the school hall. We hope to see you all there.

Week beginning 18.4.2017
Welcome back! We hope you have all had a lovely break and that the children are ready for their last term in year one.
This week has been science week! The children have enjoyed carrying out lots of different experiments, asking lots of investigative questions and asking why? For their homework this week we would like them to write about what they have enjoyed. Please remember that there is a sound mat with all phonic sounds in the back of the homework books. It is really important that the children form their letters correctly, use fingers spaces, capital letters at the start of every sentence and a full stop at the end. We always encourage the children to take pride in their work and its presentation. We appreciate your support with this at home.
Please remember that homework books need to be handed in by each Wednesday and we return every Friday with new homework.
PE for this term will be back to normal on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure your child(ren) have a full PE kit in school at all times. If they are doing an after school club please either send in an additional kit or send their PE kit back in to school the next day.
